About Massage Therapy and Reflexology
My name is Candace Grant, I graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy and have been a Registered Massage Therapist since 1998 with the CMTO (College of Massage Therapist of Ontario) and Certified Reflexologist since 2001.
My mission is to help you, as my clients, feel better about your daily routines in life. Teaching you awareness of your body, posture and the adaptation you go through with the daily stresses that surround you. Your therapy is tailored to your specific needs, it is as unque as you are.
What is Massage Therapy?
The practice of Massage Therapy is the assessment of soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. (Massage Therapy Act 1991)
Types of Massage:
Relaxation: Relaxation massage is a lighter touch with no specific concentration of an area, it is great for anyone and affects the parasympathetic nervous system.
Therapeutic: A specified treatment based on the needs of the individual, there is usually several sessions to a treatment plan to restore the client back their normal state.
Pregnancy: Promotes circulation, relieves tension, and lymphatic drainage for swelling and achieve overall relaxation. Massage can be preformed throughout any trimester, it is the positioning of the client that changes.
Hot Stone Massage: Natural heated stones placed along pressure points to provide relief to muscle aches, decrease tension, increase circulation, improve lymphatic drainage by dilating the blood vessels.

Risks of Massage Therapy

The body systems Massage effects:
- Musculature: Increases mobility and flexibility. Decreases stiffness and spasm. This is done through the breakdown of scar tissue and muscle lengthening.
- Skeletal (Bone): Increases nutrition supply and assists in proper bone alignment through muscle relaxation.
- Circulation: Increase blood and lymph flow, metabolic waste removal and detoxification.
- Nervous System: Increase nutrition to nervous tissue. massage can either stimulate or relax the nervous system depending on the type of massage.

Reflexology
A natural healing art based on the principles that there are reflexes in every part, organ and gland in your body. Through application of pressure, Reflexology relieves tension, increases circulation and helps to normalize the systems in the body.

Detoxifying, Energetic Foot Bath
Your feet are placed into a water filled basen with an array. The ion detoxification unit and then produces a low level of current which travel through the array creating positive and negative charge ions (by separating the oxygen adn hydrogen in the water). These ions then travel through the body attaching to the toxic substances, which are then released by osmosis.
